Hi guys, its time for me to change the case oil in my cr 250 and Honda recommends a 10 - 40 viscosity oil (standard across the board)

But.. ive been doing some research and have come across a lot of people substituting the oil for ATF (Auto transmission fluid).

Apparently DEXtron III is popular to use (Mobil and Valvoline especially) and is quite a bit cheaper than oil (motul between $15- $18 per litre where DEXTron is $6 !).

Id prefer to use something reliable but not to be spending big $$ after every few rides.

Has anyone done this before? what were the results and specific oils / fluids you used?

yeah iv heard of it the past, and have actually used it my self in 2 stroke gearboxs.
never had a drama.

but in saying that id be ringing some moto guru shops that deal specifically with these.
