***Video Editing Help***

Hey,
Well, i was just looking through my computer and realised i have quite a bit of riding/4x4ing footage as well as alot of other random stupid stuff lol entertaining tho...
ANYWAYS...
Was just wondering what people use to edit theyre video's? are there any decent free ones out there???
I was thinking sony vegas?? anyone used that b4? Can you still get cracked copies ??
Yeah i know its not gonna b easy...but i think ill be rite
Also any file converting programs would be helpful also!

hey mate, if your just wanting to do simple stuff i'd just use windows movie maker, you've probably already got it on your pc.

i've never used sony vegas but honestly i think its the only other program worth trying.
i've got a mate in his 4th year doing some kind of film production and he reccomended to me in this order:
1. sony vegas
2. power producer
3. windows movie maker

i've used powerprodcucer or something and it was crap compared to windows movie maker.

windows is heaps good cause it does basic transitions, you can fade the frames together, etc etc. in my opinion its got everything most people would need.

theres probably heaps more programs available but they were the ones that people would look at using for personal use.

i use "Any Video Converter" to convert files, its free and easy

Yeah i am the same. Windows movie maker is there and it is easy to use, add effects, music and transitions.

a great free converter is called 'super' by eRightsoft does most formats including flv and HD flv (h.264) also without actually re encoding you can add audio to any vid but with limitations.. havent played fully with it yet
(since it doesnt re-encode it is FAST)

WMM here to.. REALLY need a decent EDITING only PC, not connected to the net to use the higher end programs, so im told..

for what the average person uses I reckon WMM is the ducks nuts

yeah if you want a higher end editing program, for pc, use adobe premiere. If you can find a cracked version. i work in film & television and its prob the best for pc. but depends what level of editing you want to go

would you suggest having an 'editing only' pc to run that like foolsp33d said?
i've been thinking about doing this for a while but i dont really have the money to buy a 2nd editing only PC

Yeah Adobe premiere if ya want to produce broadcast quality

wwm is pretty basic but good to cut your teeth on though very limited in audio functions and timelines .

No real need for a stand alone system as long as your pc is protected, up to scratch and has the ram and space to run the program .... video takes up alot of space specially HD .

I run adobe premiere pro 2.0 and everything else including net from my laptop with 4 terrabytes of external drives and have no dramas as long as I defrag ... but if your machine is not powerful enough it can take hours to render video .... mines almost realtime.

As for not being connected to the net ?? well yeah you can lose your entire video library to a virus if you're not protected so ya don't want random porn surfers on ya computer .... and yeah that's why some build stand alone systems ..... I just back my sh@t up regularly and burn it to disc .... and that's my archive .

Yeah adobe is an industry standard program .... heaps of vid and audio lines ,bluescreen the works .... I edited 2 seasons of a snow show for SMTV ....even super imposed our weather girl on the map . yeah Adobe's the goods .

Have'nt run vgas but hear it's good too.

well I produced broadcast quality on Adobe pro 2.0 for SMTV and 31 in Sydney and never had an issue .... personally I see wmm as a novice's program because of the restrictions it's impossible to get broadcast quality audio for one thing .... however I was just stringing snowboarding together with music with a few interviews and vox pop nothing as involved as a documentry ..... so yeah Avid or Final cut may be better but I disagree Adobe is a noobs program as I've produced broadcast quality footage with the program .

Cheers mate but not taken on anyone cause I haven't done much video for a while cause I've been getting back into stills ..... but will do more later this year for sure and a bit up the hill this season for the lawless renegades .... not real techo but take a good camera ,good riders and good beats and it's pretty easy to string it together.

I reckon go a 2x converter for the 300 which will sorta give ya another lens and a fair bit of reach .... then ya could go the other way with something wide like a good fixed 28 ...or even a fisheye if the budget stretches that far ???
