firstly, hi guys, long time lurker
recently joined and now on my first thread.
been meaning to post for a while.
this has been going on MBoz for a little while, will get you up to speed

only been into the the minis for a year now, but in that time i have had a few..lol

passed RWC and got her in my name

the guy who did the test, takes my little one out on the road, comes back after 5 mins and says:
"I had more fun on this, than my big rig inside"
so i took a pic


so, i got 3 packages in the mail.
1 black gorilla tank
1 custom bars and riser blocks
new switch blocks for the controls

fitted it all up and i reckon it looks tough as..!

now, Mick's here is insane..!
twin cam 146cc 5 speed Takegawa gearbox, all the go fast bits.

and here is a crazy story:
him and my boss' bike were the 2 fastest on the cruise and camp. all weekend they would push each other on the rides.
now on sunday, Mick, i am told, was going 130 kph, and streamed past my boss, who was doing about 114. i am back behind these 2 and they are going off into the sunset and i lose them around a corner. i am doing maybe 108 ish? going by the speedo

i round this corner to see Mick and my boss on the side of the road, smoke billowing out of Mick's bike, i'm thinking "fck he pushed it too hard"

they then tell me the story

Mick got away from my boss, and when he rounded the corner, saw Mick weaving crazily all over his lane, as he pulled up, in a big smoke cloud.
He gets up to him, and Mick's rear sprocket bolts had worked lose, and locked up his wheel at 130 kph..!
very very lucky he kept it upright..!
insane..!
love this bike, and Mick is a true gent, lovely guy

got stuck into this last weekend

changed oil, replaced the blown tail light bulb, charged the battery
still got a 2nd gear problem...
it only happens in 2d, all other gears are fine.
you change into 2nd and start accelerating and it pops out of gear, and back in at random times, sorta like pulling the clutch in under rev and releasing it hard.
only in 2nd.. weird....

very happy with how the decals came out
fit a matching pair of side covers, a heavier rear rack and new tail light setup.
also fit some black maltese cross valve caps, a new oil cooler, as the old one leaked at the thread, even with thread tape, etc

very happy with it. just gotta sort out the gearbox issue

140 lifans are 440 posted
and i saw atomik has 150s for about 450?

brakes are a bit sad so i have ordered a set of kitaco pads

how many k's you done on this motor?
sometimes behind the clutch on the rh side there is a shift key that can wear too much or pop off and that causes problems
your probably sick of the power this thing is making if so then go a lifan 150 or a zs160 too ad power later on or braap 190....
it can be the dogs on 2nd gear or the selector fork or drum that is warn
approx 150$$$ fix on the gearbox but good as new (other than old motor)
its a good time to go the biggest bore you can or even get the cases bored but instead i would just go a lifan 150 because they last pretty damn long and there pretty tourquey and lets face it the price is right..

if you go yx you will need to remove the flywheel and replace the stator plate and prolly do some wiring and mount up a larger aircooler

Mate was lucky to hold it with the wheel locking up at 130. Crazy bugger. lol.

Looks like some cool toys mate. Old mate was lucky to hold her up at 130, i did similar on a 750 ninja a while back, wasn't as lucky though... Nice pics too :)

will give me some reading for the weekend.

being a noob, what i'm doing is buying a replacement LIFAN 140 off DHZ for $450 posted(i got a 125 type R head off them for the gold chaly and it arrived in 2 days, amazing service).

then once i've changed them over, i will pull the current donk down, using the guides you have linked and any other info i can find, and learn about these amazing lil engines while fixing the 2nd gear problem.
as it is my daily, i cant have it off the road while im fixing a gearbox and/or making it worse while i learn what goes where.

the engine has done just on 1200 k's since i own it, and the engine was in the bike at least 6 mths beforehand, i honestly cant guess how many k's its done.

to be honest, the 140 is fast enough for me, with the std length frame/swingarm and 8" wheels it feels fast no matter what you're traveling at, lol.
i hit 108k's going by the speedo on the camp, and it was speed wobbling all over the place, hehe

i was looking into the Daytona 190 anima with the new decomp, etc but they are a lil new for me.
want to wait and see how they fare

of course, i am open to any and all suggestions and advice..!

you need to watch out the lifan engine and daytona etc there longer than usual not a problem for me in a lxr or something but in your small frame front wheel and head clearance can be an issue.. one that can be resolved by stretching the frame..

the 190's have been around for approx 2 years before they were released just keep the rpm to the lowerside and it should be okay for a roadie with a rebuild regular ish would be necessary
 
Could also go a high comp gpx 125 or just a normal gpx 125.. will be plenty fast with the charging stator..
they last long but the high comp would need a new piston more often but thats no problem because there cheap the 54mm motors have something going for them i cant explain.. the std gpx 125 was enough to lift the front wheel in 1st and second on a LXR!! runs out of tourque before a 140 naturally but you dont need it if its wobbling at 100k's
 
thanks for the engine suggestions guys.

so, after a few calls, i decided to go with the LIFAN 140 from Casey at DHZ, mainly due to their amazing service last time.
paid for the engine at lunch and had an email nearly right after saying it was on the way..!

plans are to fit the replacement engine asap, and then play with the old one a bit, look into head work, 150 kit or bigger, not sure.
also did the front brake shoes today, replaced the pads with some KDF ones that came with the bike, until My order comes through.

re greased it all and bolted her back together
