Hey there,

Anyone have any advice on the ZongShen 140cc engine?

Noticed that the new DHZ outlaw 140 has these motors,
think they were using Lifan in the past.

Does anyone have any opinion about the reliability of this engine?

Cheers,
Steve.

i got a new lifan 140cc atomik big foot its good n all but it makes a wierd ringing sound at hight revvs wat can this be

Lifan 140 you shouldnt have really asked that in this thread cause its taking over someone elses thread on a different motor but I see that its your first post so no big deal. If its a vibrating type noise then it could easily be an exhaust vibration, check the heat shield on the exhaust as I've seen it happen a few times. I also had 1 exhaust that was loose inside the muffler and got a new one under warranty.

My son has a Pit Bike with a ZongShen 150cc motor in it. Played up from the start. Just took out the entire motor and casing off to find out that the gear selector was badly worn hence the reason it was only working in the top two gears....Does anyone know of an equivallent sizing motor but better quality as in $ that I can replace it with..Would make slipping a new one in alot easier...
I don't really want to go and replace the selector because it is made with cheap material and will happen again...As with the clutch basket and discs need replacing too anyway...Thanks

i got a pitpro bigfoot 140 and its got a zongshen in it it goes pretty hard haven't had any dramas yet but the bike is very new

Just brought a new dhz bike, but never got 2 fire it up yet,its been stripped and sent to the painters, ill let u know if i have problems when its back together, ive got a 125cc lifan powered bike, had it over 2years neva had a problem with it,except for the massive crack down the back of the engine cases, and yeah it pisses out oil,but it still goes hard, and i flog the shit out ov it,ive rode big bore road bikes most my life, and i still cant kill this lifan engine, trust me ive tried.lol...so if the zongcheng is shit ill know about it......guy above,,maybe if u didnt ride like a butcher,(bang bang bang) on the gearbox, the selector drum wldnt look like an old chum tin..ever heard of a clutch????lmmfaoooo..

the very first bike i ever bought was a a ZongShen 150cc bike.
Opened the box, put it all together and have never stopped having problems with it. The gears are the worst, slipping, and not clickin into gear and skipping, its a nightmare. Might be a one off type thing, but i would never go back to a ZongShen engine in my life, unless they picked up their game ALOT.. I went and bought a genuine thumpstar, thats alot better  goes hard!

gooluck tho.

i have a 125cc zongshen in my elstar blade 2 it runs great and had no real problem, except my gear selectors played up abit but a strip down and rebuild fixed that!! they are 1 of the better chinese engines! cheers

G'day have got the lifan and have riden the zongshen both from dhz but I gotta say that the lifan goes alot harder then the zongshen i was riding but still a good engine but apparetly stuffs up a bit...so i think if you could find a lifan one still you should lean towards that.

Hope I could help - Milly

lifan n zonga are pretty much the same in performance, but i hear shongaz are alot more realiable, my fisrst bke had a 140 zonga in it, had it for 3 years with not really any problems, exept for the gears started jumping on the last few months i had it

ok im seeing alot of people mixing the vertical style engine up with horizontal style..

zonger 140 is a horizontal engine..
iv seen a few of these now, and my mate has one fitted in one of his bikes...
has about 20hrs on it so far and hasnt missed a beat.
my other mate ownes a pit bike store and has fitted and sold a few of these as well.. to date i havent seen one back for warranty...

you had a 140 zonger for 3 years...
they only been on the shelf for about 6-12months i think..

nah mate,
they been out for quite a while.
i bought one of those sh** lei moto bikes, n the only good thing in it was the engine which was a 140 zonga,
actually, come to think of it, might be 2 years, 2 n a half maybe.
but i know they been out for atleast 2 years, cause i got that bike 2-3 years ago

hmm, i dont have any pics of the engine itself.
but....

there is the bike with the engine in august 2008,
but i dont think i have any pics before that, what i could do tho is find the receipt.
and im nearly certain that it says purchased on 9th of December 2007
