heyy guys
just wondering if a 150 yx with the tb v2 head and upgraged cam with a oko flatty would be more of kick than the 175 pisterpro stock crate engine??

oh the reason i ask was just wanting more kick down low and maybe an greater overrall torque cure and i have enough to buy either the 175cc pister or the tb v2 head kit

cheers
Martin

Power wise I recon they'd be compareable, but before doing any work to the 150 I'd be making sure it has the upgraded center case. Yx150,s are known for cracking?

Id go the V2 head but upgrade the case, otherwise you could have serious problems. maybe get the decompression addon aswell ?

Most of the case breakage here came when the 160 arrived, and the smaller outer rotor with WAY too much advance. 150V2 will have a top-end only curve, vs the mostly grunt of a big bore stock head mill. If going the big/new route, which I suggest, watch the overall timing, and be sure you aren't being sold the discontinued-for-good-reason S-Cut type TB piston or worse yet a chopped-off Alibaba Special.

FWIW, there is no magic in the roller lift curves, so stuffing some bigger valves in your "old" 150 head and having it ported is a cheap upgrade, as funds recover.

ive had it for 2 months now just over 10 hrs of riding ALWAYS KICK IT AT TDC
oh and btw it was bought early 2010 brand new out of the crate would this still matter if i got the tb v2 head as in would it "crack the case" also you saying it only affects mid to top end and not bottom?? Would this mean i should just get the pister pro 175cc engine and just bolt it on?

heres the kit i was looking at

TB YX 150 160 Race Head V2 Kit - GPX150 YX150 YX160 GPX - eBay (item 300324574196 end time Jan-12-11 18:29:56 PST)

cheers

before we go any further, can you verify your engine type and bike as its pretty hard to buy a new yx150 these days unless its the daytona version.

pics or link to show us please...

sorry to bug you guys but also need to know if i did buy the 175cc would it actually bolt on with out major modifaction it is a 150cc biggfoot atomik as alot of other people on this forum call it the "gayfoot" lol
anyways
thank again

ok just as i thought... the v2 head isnt compatible with your engine as its a crf based engine.
the v2 head is klx based engine. so your stuck buying the 175 or the smaller 155 if you want to upgrade.. id even consider a yx160..

it will bolt in your bike with no drama's however you will need to either modify the front of the exhaust pipe or purchase one with the engine.. modifying is easy as long as you have access to a grinder and a mig welder..

also they run a different inlet manifold so be sure to check the engine comes with one...

bash plate may be the only other thing needing modifying but again its pretty easy..

ok thanks well that rules out the tb head i didint even want it :p
well it comes with inlet mainfold and all the rest excpet carb and exhuast could you link what exhasut i would have to get ?? thanks also with the mods the bash plate if i had to grind it would it affect anything??
thanks

That stock 150cc engine responds well to a bigger cam, better valve springs and a 1mm oversize TB domed piston, and less ignition timing if it has the smaller outer rotor flywheel. TB has a head for that, but I'm not a fan.

The 175 shouldn't need any thing.
