Frames were being discussed in another topic about designing a new pit bike ... but rather than hijack that thread I thought I would start a new one.

Call me crazy but how about a fiberglass frame ??? Stronger than steel and much lighter. Or even carbon fibre, even stronger and lighter. But much more expensive.

You can buy full carbon mountain bike frames.

not sure if theyd suit every ride style..
like FMX, theres some pretty heavy duty stress going on the frame.

and i guess carbon or glass frames would still need a steel backbone...

i like those frames i posted in the other thread and i recon they could prove to be strong as the weight is being distributed across the whole bike, and it allows for the air cleaner to be fitted nicely under the tank/seat area away from direct crap from the back tire and also water

Yea, they do look like they would be strong, and possibly lighter in that configuration.

Yes I like the frames on the Kaxmoto CRF 70 style bikes too ... Someone should import them to compete with the Pitster LXR type bikes ... Fartoomany CRF50/KLX style bikes around ...
