hi every one i have a yx140 and the other day when i shut her down there was like a loose spinning noise sounded like it was coming from the clutch side has anyone ever had this or know what it could be? i will prob open it up and have a look this weekend thought i would see if its common. :confused-smiley-013

im guessing the oil slinger has come apart or loose, pretty common fault within yx engine..
but like i said, im only guessing...

to find out pull the clutch cover off

definitely your oil slinger. iits cracked and seperated from the hub . thats why it continues to spin even after the engine is shut off.

thinks ppl i'll go have a look now and tell ya how i go :hideing_behind_comp

buy yourself a magnetic oil drain plug and youll find less crap gets caught in the slinger and your oil will last longer..

as for the new oil slinger, i hope you got a alloy cnc one and not another 2 piece alloy one or a steel one..

Yes ... Buy a one piece billet alloy slinger off DHZ ...

You can see how good the slingers work at centrifuging the crap out of the oil and keeping it away from the big end bearing ... If it's grey it's OK ... but if it's black then it's most likely got particles of clutch rubber in it ...

what is the job of the sling? is it just a counter weight/ oil filter thing:confused: or???
