Oil filter screen

Hey guys just wondering if anyone can help me my son has a Chinese Thumpstar it needs it first service on the motor it says clean the filter screen where abouts is it do u have to pull the side cover off or wat

It should be across the to of your oil pump inside the casing depending on what engine you have

look at page 12, it sits in the rectangular slot at the r/h bottom off the pic, right above the oil drain plug.
the actual strainer mesh is shown at the top of page 10
