no, but it'll make the forks a little stiffer too
the thicker oil doesn't flow as quick through the valving in the bottom of the forks


i can't remember if you've done a drain flush on the factory oil in your forks
if not it is worth while doing, they could be filled with cooking oil ?
i found quite a bit of foreign material in mine when i've flushed them out.
bits of old rubber etc, it can get into the ports and block/restrict them, and not letting it all work as they were designed to.
 
Yeah, I flushed the oil in them ages ago, and gave them an oil change a few hours ago too, I cant remember if I found any foreign materials in them when I did it though, but they felt alot better afterwards. I'll give this shimming another go sometime this week or weekend. Sucks I have exams on atm, Takes all my time away...
