Yep, brand new clutch, TB piston, shift fork, kick start gears and put all back together fired it up, smokeyyyyyy as hell. Rings are in the right way, derrrr, and gaps are not inline, cylinder honed nice. The engine itself is roughly 5 hours old before new piston etc was put in, can't possibly be valve stem seals. Not on acceleration, not on decalleration, just there when cold, goes away when warm.

Using "run in"oil right now, will change back to Motul and see what happens

LAst guy i knew who put a new TB piston his bike was also very smokey, only made it to the flag in the second moto when engine seized.

Also a little "poppy" down low, ok when it hits main jet. I forget what the small jet is but main is a 95. VM 26 carb. Can't buy a 100 jet anywhere, grrrrrr

Anyone had this happen to them?

Mine, reefys and my friends bike were bit smokey after rebuilds. They stopped shortly after
Was it smokey before? Could have oil somewhere like exhaust.
Or just the oil in the engine possibly

No it wasn't smokey before. I know what happened to Styv's after his rebuild and it was smokey, LOL

before rebuild exhaust was grey, mint tune. Now it's dripping oil, grrrrr

I'll get over it i suppose. I will do an oil change and see what happens if the rings bed in more.

Your crankcase breather isn't blocked and pressuring up and forcing oil past the rings Phil?

i was thinking that too as I walked past it in disgust last night in the garage but forgot to check as i got distracted with the water pissing out of my car outside, stupid ford V8's, lol. I will check it tonight.

I also reckon it's the oil I used, I will also change that tonight

Hmmm, track is open today, feeling a bit sick here at work, might have to leave early.

Haha, damn fords, I had an inner valve spring poo itself once and fractured and broke up and sliced the valve stem seal up causing it to come off the guide, your to experienced to neglect having a quick check on the seals, am I right;)

Do you mean check on the seals on the bike? "Cause there is no way I would check on my car, hahaha. That would mean äctually"undoing"" bolts on it, nah don't think so. I'm tired of this car anyway, want to buy an LTD, very comfy!! I want a ute.

The breather pipe was a bit kinked when I checked last night, unkinked it, that's as far as i got last night. Oh but i went to Buzz bikes and at least bought new oil!

Why has my a got that Euro thingee on top of it in the word actually?

Must be typing with my elbows again

I would guess you have a european keyboard selected, rather than US (should be under region settings if on windows) Either that or 2 your visiting too many german porn sites and it's automatically updated for you :p

hahahah no it's on US, I must have hit seven keys at the one time and it came out, buggered if i know

German porn no good, too hairy, so I've heard

my valve spring compressor is not small enough

anyway, if it smokes this weekend after different oil and a bit more time running in, time to go Tb 170 kit. I only out about 10 minutes riding on it last weekend

Valve spring compressor, what's that.put a socket on the retainer and give it a quick hit, out pops the colletts. Your tough hands could then compress the spring with the colletts already on the retainer and push and install. Bloody young fellas:)

or i could just buy a V2, done. Surely you have a spare kicking around

I wish dude, would be going on the build if I did, sell the Ford, then get a V2 then you can but that Holden you have always been after. Have you ever thought of just leaving it smokey and starting a business?, I can see it now PHILS MOZZIE FOGGING haha, get a v2 my man

I already sold my ''63 to get the damn bike, hahah. Gotta keep the LTD to drag the bike to the track, must I teach you everything? *rolls eyes*

Just went and picked up some race numbers, should go faster now and got the LAST remaining TB sticker on this earth thrown in.

Your not that special, they would of just said that to make you feel more special than you are already, besides i thought i got the last 2, hmmmmm we special together.

Rode today, on start up smokey, then dissipated after it was warm and stayed fairly clear. Noticed it has really lost top end, so time to up the jets. Just as things were getting fun, BANG no more 3rd gear.

damn, get a 160ho donk, close ratio box and strengthened bottom end mate, then everything is fixed. If ya rich of course, does it still go into 4th, maybe the drum selector forks have worn causing it to not engage gear properly.

Yes goes into 4th. But I just put a new shift fork in it last week, was shifting really smooooth. It was banging in and out of 3rd, spewin cause it was a good day riding till then. Maybe the pin in the drum has bent or come loose.
