Noticed there's a sh!t load of "Ads by Google"

in between posts and above my avatar when I log on...

It makes it just that bit more of an effort now that I need to scroll down more to see the useful information this website produces..

Some of the Ads....

Dunno man it's nothin to do with me .... I'm not really into sellin 299 buck bikes on here either ... all I'm just sayin we'll have to deal with it because we have no say in it .... the owner wants to grow the site .... therefore I guess he needs more revenue to do it ?

like I said I dunno but you can drop him a line and ask him I guess

Maybe the guys complaining should give money to the owner of the site so then he doesn't need to put ads on to get money ;)

I would be happy to put money in or run a membership scheme to help fund the site. Would allow for a lot of VBulletin updates and to expand the very limited things due to web site size (ie amount of pm messages etc). Another site I use has this exact setup and has been expanding for years. They still have ads, just not as many.

actually motorman thats a really good idea pay membership as that would probly cut out spammers and douchebags

Spot on. I'm not talking a lot of money here, $50 to $100 by 100 Members. There's anywhere between 5 and 10 grand straight up. Easy enough to get a nice server to run the site and allow for further expansion. Still advertise on here as well, but you can limit it a lot more. So you don't have to sell those $300 bikes Dready. ;)

Just an idea.

Ha ha I'm not sellin 300 dollar bikes anymore than you motor ... in fact you're the one telling crew atomiks are good value for money :p

As for you're idea ?

Like I said a few posts back contact him and run it by him, he seems pretty aproachable. But without knowing what commitments he has to the current sponsors it's hard to say whether such a thing would even be possible. Also I'm not sure how many members would rather pay 100 bucks a year than see the ads when alot only spend 500 on their bike.

Me I'm not that fussed but if ya get it rolling I'll kick in a 100 .... Maybe run a poll and see how many others you can get to commit .

TyD, If you don't like seeing Google's Ads etc, install NoScript: NoScript - JavaScript/Java/Flash blocker for a safer Firefox experience! - what is it? - InformAction
It's a free script blocker that gives you a certain amount of control over which IP connections can load in your browser. At first it will block a lot of legitimate pages but you make permanent & temporary rules for each website you visit. Easy :) I don't see any ads on Mini Riders

cheers, i was looking for oone yesterday,(installed 5 diff addon's with lo luck lol))
cheers!

Ha ha. I ain't selling no $300 POS. And for the record I ain't told no one to buy an atomik and never will. Better speak to Rip about that one. :D

I don't just mean to get rid of the ads. I mean to improve the site as a whole as well. I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't want to do it but then they will miss out on the added extra's and benefits you would get for being one. Could be another section for paying members and other benefits. I reckon a few of us would jump on board to help the site out which helps us all out.

yeah something like different price levels get ya different site access levels..

dont know if it would work tho, cause alot of ppl join just for help, then once there sorted ya never see them again.
but you dont know how many of those ppl refer MR to other people for help to which may result in a permant member too..

maybe just a donation section or something..

not too sure but i guess the owners have a bundle of idea's roaming around there head

PERSONALLY
I wouldn't pay 100 bucks to use this site.. Simple as that, I'm sure a lot of other people wouldn't either...
