The pitster pro big bore muffler and pipe. Is that for a 50cc, would it work well with a 70 cc kit im putting in my fifty?

Im doing the same thing. Stock XJR SS 50 but got the 70cc head and the E22 oversized valve head to put on also. I was told just to take the wire mesh out of the carb and it will be fine. But if its not what "needle mods" do i do? Just raise or lower the needle?
