This is a review on the new
Pitster Pro Lxr .
And the Z155cc Engine.
This bike is pretty much a shrunk down big bike!
Suspension:
Overall i reckon 8/10
Sure you could spend another few grand on shocks and forks and tuning etc .
But for a China bike straight out of the box , i couldn't ask for suspension any better . its Amazing.
The linkage works incredibly well , reduces the need for Heavy springs (only running 300lb) so the Damping on the standard shock is awesome , and i haven't even touched the adjustments on it.
The suspension Has Alot! of Travel and feels like it will never run out . im yet to bottom it out .
The rear feels a little on the soft side , but is still almost impossible to bottom out with me on it.
Engine
Overall - 8/10
Ok Everyone wants to no about the new z155 engines .
It is a Really fast Strong motor straight out of the box .
The gearing is pretty good , 1st is a little short , and 3rd is a little long , But 2nd is Perfect!
Still on stock sprockets so it could be as easy as going up a tooth up front.
The cases look Tough as hell , the Clutch Action is great! , with a ASV lever its almost as light as my old Klx's hydraulic clutch , Wich was light!
Overall its an awesome Engine! if you where in the market for a new engine , between the Yx engines and the Z you would be silly not to go the Z .
Stronger cases , better gearing , fixed the kickstart problem that the yx's have , and it looks pretty trick to.
Quality
The quality on these things is amazing , you wouldn't expect to see these coming out of china!
everything looks tough as hell , See some of the pictures.
The frame looks solid , the swingarm looks bulletproof!
And the Hubs and Rims look Strong as hell , and they look Awesome ! not like the usual china wheels.
Everything to the Chain guide , chain slider , chain rollers etc are all Extremely good quality .
Pros
Suspension = Awesome
Engine = Awesome
Wheels,Frame,Swingarm all tough as nails
The handling is Insane! you can be coming out of a corner rear wheel sliding front wheel lifting up , and still feel in total control! its amazing.
All the little things like Frame protectors , the Rubber protectors for the Linkage / shock
The twin oil coolers! that fit very nicely you dont even no they are there , and the Covers protecting the cooler fins.
All the little Pitster pro Emblems , covering the Brake reservoirs/calipers on the Frame mounts etc.
The brakes are Awesome quality with great feel to them , still using stock fluids and are going strong since day 1 with no problems!
Still running Stock bearings (after 6 months) stock bearings through wheels/linkage everywhere and have not had 1 problem
I could go on .
Cons
With every china bike , a few bolts have come loose .. not as much as your usual china bike only 3-4 or so , so not to bad.
The Molkt carby , Im not a fan of . was very simple to tune but then the Fuel sloshing problems when Jumping etc , then a few other problems.
And it started playing up again yesterday , Runs fine for 2 minutes then its like it runs out of fuel. its still getting fuel from the Tank and petcock so ill have to pull it apart Again!.
"update" 1 day later , without touching the carby , its running superb?? ........
Tyres are Pretty average performing , and the rear has worn down very fast.
So a tyre change is something to think about. with any new bike really..
I have now Added the Airbox to the Cons section after more use of the bike.
After cleaning the filter a few times , i have realized just how much Water/Dust get into this airbox , and the Pathetic filter doesn't help either.. there is visible dust all through the airbox , and the Pipe leading all the way into the Carb!
Not to mention its a pain getting to the Airbox filter to clean.
So will be getting a Unifilter , and taking the hole Airbox off...
Maybe Connect the Uni to the end of the pipe , and securing it under the seat.
Upgrades
The main things that i think need upgrading would be the Handlebars , Tyres , Chain and Grips
The rest is perfectly fine as it is.
I have pretty much only put bars on , and im still loving every bit of it.
Overall its the Greatest Minibike i have ever Ridden... so far!!!!
And i recommend it to Everyone!!
I will add to this when i get time , this was just a quick write up but it seems to have covered everything.
Heres a few Pictures.
4 MONTH UPDATE
Update.. January 11th 2010
Yesterday i snapped the Exhaust mount off the subframe ... Could probably blame that on me , the can was abit loose and i always use to rock it side to side to see how tight it was , and it put a little crack in the thin mount... and after a while she snapppped!. no biggie its getting welded on now.
The bolts that are used instead of pop rivets on the muffler , come loose easy... and i have lost a few of them .. id locktight them if you get one.
Hmm what else.
I had a rear hub/sprocket problem ... dont think i have mentioned that yet.
It was like the Sprocket bolt holes where to big , so they rocked back and forth on the bolts... causing it to snap the bolts off into the hub...
a easy fix is to loosen the bolts , rock the sprocket Anti clockwise (the way the wheel spins) as far as it goes then tighten the bolts.
.. And i put a v2 head on it , that i bought from Daimojay . with s35 cam ported matched manifold 450 springs , and it was a frigging awesome upgrade , makes the power so different! love it.
will get some pictures up here of my new graphics/carb/v2 head (Y) . and also of it without a subframe looks cool.
