Chains are meant to be too long as its easier to remove links than it is to replace them.
But don't pay a shop to do it (unless you're really not sure what you are doing).
just test fit it on your bike, then grind the pin away on the last link you wish to keep.
And of course, take care...
These engines have constant mesh gears so basicly it wont fuck it, but the selectors may wear a little quicker.
Also when changing gears, its best just to feather the clutch.

I gotta ask... 20 grit sand paper??? thats VERY coarse, i could imagine it making anything almost silky smooth.

.... but have you notice that if someone purchases a china bike, it is recommended that they change the chain, handle bars, frame, forks wheels, bearing, seat, spark plugs... etc...
By the end there's nothing original left
